I am committing to regularly donate money to organizations fighting for equality and justice or to individuals, with the exact amount of money donated based on my income. These organizations may center around support for Black people, Indigenous people, and other people of color, immigrants, queer and trans people, those experiencing homelessness, those with barriers to accessing mental health or physical health services, or other justice-based work.
As a shop with no Black or Indigenous employees, Daydream Tattoo will also be donating to make reparations on a monthly basis, with the exact amount of money donated based on the shop income each month. (This will begin after Coronavirus closures end.) Reparations will be made to PNW tribes for the stolen land we operate on and to Black individuals and organizations for the hundreds of years of free labor they have given this country and the resulting income inequality or barriers to wealth they may face as well as to combat the deeply racist and appropriative history of tattooing within the United States. We are starting a fund to help support Black artists through tattoo school and all Daydream artists will be offering free tattoos to Black folks as well.
Additionally, every client of mine will pay a $10 donation along with their deposit to ensure that everyone I work with is also actively giving back.
After I make donations, I will post a receipt on this page for transparency. This page is in no way intended to absolve me from the work I must do internally to fight racism and white supremacy. This is simply a tool to keep me accountable for donating money and making reparations on a regular basis. I will also be supporting Black artists and businesses, using my time to sign petitions, make phone calls, write letters, and protest, using my platform to amplify Black voices, having important conversation with those in my life, and speaking up when I witness racism in action.
